My love for soccer started at four years old growing up in the south of England. I played for various clubs across the South Coast before playing a few years of semi professional soccer in the Southern Premier League and Wessex League in the UK. At 15 years old, alongside my playing career, I began coaching youth soccer teams and working as a coach during summer camps. As I approached college age I decided to switch my focus from playing to teaching and coaching and pursued a career in education and coaching.
I have now been coaching soccer for over 15 years and have also been a qualified PE teacher for approaching a decade. During this time, I have coached various soccer teams at different ages and levels. I attended College from 2009 to 2012, completing an undergraduate degree in Sport Coaching and Sport Science followed by a Post-Graduate Certificate in Physical Education in 2013. I am very fortunate that my coaching career has created many opportunities to coach and teach in different areas of the UK as well as a short time coaching in Denver and now in Illinois. My coaching philosophy is centered around building a love for the game and encouraging those I coach to play with freedom and creativity. I am passionate about learning and I am always looking for ways I can better my practice to help provide a positive experience for the athletes I am fortunate enough to work with.
After completing my formal qualifications, I began a teaching career working in a secondary school in London where I also served as the high school head soccer coach and separately as a club coach. I was fortunate enough to spend a season coaching in Denver in 2012 working with a high school varsity team and coaching at various soccer camps across the state of Colorado. After serving as an assistant athletic director and head soccer coach in London for three years, I moved to Chicago in 2017 to work as a Physical Education teacher and coach in a K-12 school. I am excited to return to coaching in a club environment at Chicago City and getting to know the club and the community.
